Unlike
so many of its neighboring communities, Meadow Vista is not something left
over from the Gold Rush. Meadow Vista began as an agricultural
village and grew into a residential community. There is a sprinkling
of commercial and retail businesses and beautiful Combie Lake and the Bear
River within this pleasant community.
Meadow Vista is about seven miles northeast of Auburn and was
originally home to Native Americans. Some of the grinding rocks used
to make corn meal can still be found on private property and in the
half-mile-long main business district. The Meadow Vista Park is a
multifaceted recreation site enjoyed by the residents.
Meadow Vista is a favorite place for those who want a gentler pace of
life. There are no sidewalks, street lamps or traffic lights, just
the peace and quite so many are looking for in this rural haven.
Home sites on the Bear River, Combie Lake or view lots and homes are
available.
