The American River plays an important role in this community.
Ancil Hoffman regional park and the American River Parkway, a 30-mile
stretch of scenic riparian vegetation next to the river, are two of the
big pluses for living in Carmichael. Ancil Hoffman Golf Course
is within the park and is owned by the county.
Carmichael has beautiful trees, lovely parks, and a wide variety and price
range of homes--from small 3 bedroom, 1 bath homes that are over 35 years
old to huge new custom homes being built on large lots (the remnants of a
rural past). Location is a real plus here. Easy access to all
freeways and downtown Sacramento are elements that make Carmichael so
popular.
San Juan School District is recognized as one of the best public school
systems in the nation. Many people choose this area because of the
school district.
Carmichael also has senior housing readily available. The choices range
from small private care homes to the well planned Eskaton Village.
Two shopping malls (across the street from each other) in Carmichael are
Country Club Plaza and Country Club Center.
Health care includes American River Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Medical
Center.
